Royal Caribbean Alaska Cruise
Brilliance of the Seas
August 4 – 11, 2024
It has been too long since we’ve done a family vacation with Tavis’ parents and sister’s family. We have decided to book an Alaska cruise out of Vancouver because of how much easier it is to leave out of the Vancouver port. Tavis’ siste’s family have never been on a cruise, and I am the only one who has been to Alaska, so it will be an experience for everyone!

Day 1: Vancouver, British Columbia: We set sail at 5:00pm out of Vancouver.
Day 2: Inside Passage: Our first day is a cruise day. This is an opportunity to explore the ship and take in the sites. I also like to get to know the staff members who will be taking care of us.
Day 3: Sitka, Alaska: My Mom and I will have to explore Sitka in May. We might see if we can find a nice hike if the weather is nice.
Day 4: Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska: Before arriving in Juneau, we will be sightseeing along Tracy Arm Fjord, which extends over 30 miles alongside the wilderness of Tongass National Forest.
Day 4: Juneau, Alaska: I visited Juneau last October with my Mom and my sister’s family. It was a relatively short walk from the port into town. Many of the businesses were already shut down, but we did manage to meet some great people and find an amazing stores. Juneau is cute town. It reminded me a bit of Chemainus, with that small town vibe.
Day 5: Hubbard Glacier Cruising, Alaska: On this day, we will be sightseeing from 11:00am to 2:00pm. At 76 miles long and seven miles wide, North America’s largest tidewater glacier makes even the largest ships in the region feel small. Hopefully, we will get to watch massive chunks of Hubbard Glacier’s translucent blue ice crash into the bay. Let’s hope that weather co-operates!
Day 6: Ketchikan, Alaska: This was another stop we visited last October. My first impression was very impressive! They have a huge warehouse that is bigger than Costco with trees and rocks and it has a real outdoor feel. They also have a ton of merchandise for sale.
Day 7: Inside Passage: Our last cruise day. This is an opportunity to relax and take in the entertainment and food! We can also relax in the Observation lounge and watch for whales.
Tomorrow we arrive back in Vancouver at 7:00AM. With no flights to catch, we can have a relaxing morning, enjoy breakfast and leave at our leisure.
